As an educator, John expects nothing less than commitment and passion towards the greater purpose of communication using the power and art of photography. His workshops are not about f-stops, how to use a camera nor are simply traveler photo tours. They are about storytelling with images (and if interested, audio and video), where a topic, theme, issue or idea is created into a completed project by the end of the workshops. In short, these workshops are an assignment. These events are intended to inspire, inflame your passion for photography and push you to new levels in seeing the world around you.

Another series of workshops is related to organizing, managing and empowering your photographic archive. If your collection of digital images is only at a five hundred or a few thousand, it will grow quickly over time, turning into an unmanageable archive when not planned and organized. These digital workflow workshops also teach how to empower your archive, allowing photographers with managed archives to revisit older and new bodies of work, easily creating powerful new stories for resale and marketing to publications. Using Apple’s image editing program, Aperture, John will also demonstrate unique and empowering ways to tone your photographs for printing in publications, books and exhibitions.
John also offers private, one-on-one consultation in portfolio preparation, editing and career building.
